Description of Diversity and Inclusion Working Group

Women in Fire (WIF) has partnered with the Center for Fire, Rescue, & EMS Health Research (CFREHR), part of NDRI-USA, on a FEMA-funded project focused on the development and dissemination of women’s health educational content for the fire service.

The CFREHR and WIF will partner with fire service organizations as well as key fire service personnel to build a working group focused on improving diversity and inclusion in the fire service. The working group will focus on examining previously developed trainings and educational content, providing recommendations for additional content, reviewing marketing and graphics, and finalizing material/content.

The working group will also assist with identifying appropriate dissemination channels. We estimate the time commitment will include a call approximately every other month for one hour to advise and direct efforts and then periodic engagement for feedback between meetings.

The grant period is two years. If we are able to do an in-person meeting, we will fund travel to that.
